To compliment my music video, I was tasked with creating a 'digipak', a card/plastic casing for a CD of a music track or album, similar to a CD case. Progression of Editing - Music Video

Using the post production software, Adobe Premiere Pro, I am able to carry out the task of editing my music video. With previous experience using this program, I feel comfortable and confident in my ability to utilize this software effectively to edit with, from which I am able to make cuts, effects and transitions manually, exactly to the settings and preferences that I see fit.

Music Video First Initial Draft

The YouTube link below features my initial draft of my music video I have created, to the song Dark Queen by Lil Uzi Vert. This demonstrates my a portion of music video, in which I have incorporated some of the visual effects, cuttings and themes - these of which are to be developed on for my final piece. As this is my initial draft, the video is by no means complete and requires a large amount of additional work on to be finished to high standard.

To assist with the planning phase of filming my music video, I created a hand drawn story board to show some of the types of camera angles, editing techniques, locations and positioning of things that I would be including in various shots. I found that putting my ideas down into an initial visual perspective helps me to visualize what I intend to film/cut, where, when and why.

Excellent research into digipaks Elliot. You have incorporated great detail into your research and have understood the meaning being created through the colours, text and artist details displayed. I particularly like the way you have explored the conventions of the genre of music you are looking at, comparing and contrasting artists like Drake with Gambino. This will really benefit you when you design your own digipak! Keep up the good work.

To further my understanding and research into the marketing that often complements a music video, I took it upon myself to analyse digipaks created for artist's new albums within the genre of rap and hip-hop so I could gain a direct understanding of the common themes and elements that are often included in the designs.
